The Pentax Optio M50 Digital Camera produces images with an astounding 8.0 megapixel image quality, and is equipped with a 5x optical smc PENTAX lens (equivalent to a 36 - 180mm lens in 35mm format). It has an ultra-slim and stylish body with a fresh design, and is made from high quality aluminum alloys for superb durability.

It is also loaded with a host of impressive advanced features including Digital Shake Reduction, an Auto Macro feature, Face Recognition Auto Focus with the Smile Capture mode, and you can even capture smooth, high-quality movies at 30 fps at a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, which is comparable to movies taken with a camcorder.

The compact Optio M50 provides a generous 2.5 inch LCD monitor that is easily viewable from any angle for easy framing and reviewing of your images, and the camera's aluminum chassis and slim design makes the camera both durable and fashionable.

• 8.0 megapixel CCD assures high resolution images

• The 5X optical zoom lens, covering an angle of view equivalent to approximately 36 to 180 mm in 35 mm format makes is ideal for shooting a broad spectrum of subjects, from landscapes to portraits. Combine with the digital zoom function (approx. 1X to 5.1X), making a maximum zoom equivalent to 25.5X possible.

• “Face Recognition AF&AE" function automatically detects and focuses on faces, and sets the optimum exposure. Other functions such as the “Smile Capture” function, which distinguishes smiles and automatically takes photographs, are also available.

• Auto Picture mode lets the camera automatically determine the shooting conditions and chooses the optimum settings for Landscape, Portrait, Night Scene and Normal modes as well as Flower and Sports modes.

• Digital SR (Shake Reduction) mode reduces the effect of camera shake and blurring of the subject when photographing still images. The sensitivity is adjusted automatically, to as high as the ultrahigh sensitivity of ISO 6400, to match the brightness of the subjects.

• 2.5 inch, wide view (approx. 170 degrees) LCD makes capturing and reviewing images easy

• Movie recording function with shake reduction with image quality rivaling camcorders

• Mode palette provides quick access to 16 shooting modes and 15 playback modes

• Panorama mode automatically stitches a series of three images into one wide scene

• Auto-Macro allows for close-up photography as near as 10cm without changing the normal focusing mode
